Description
The ruins of the SS Columbia on the west bank of the Congaree River, with the historic Gervais St. Bridge in the distance. This 135 foot long, 25 foot wide, paddle wheel steamer, was built at a boatyard near the Senate St. side of the river. It plied the waters between the Midlands and Georgetown, carrying primarily cotton and lumber. It took 22 hours to reach Georgetown via the Congaree and Santee Rivers.
My tripod was positioned about in the middle of the vessel for this early morning shot.
