This photo was chosen as the cover for the SC Legislative Manual, 2015 Edition. The manual was first printed in 1916, and this edition is the 96th issue, as it was not printed in 1922, 26, 28 and 1932.
Venus, the 3-day old crescent Moon and the dome of the State House in Columbia, SC. This photo was taken on May 19, 2007 at 8:47 PM EDT. The separation of this conjunction between Venus and the Moon is 2 degrees. The faint lunar details on the shaded side of the Moon are visible because of "Earthshine". Earthshine is sunlight reflected by our planet Earth.
